Kazakhstan to implement over 100 project worth $5bn in agro-industrial complex
During the 36th plenary meeting of the Foreign Investors' Council (FIC) held in Astana, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev outlined Kazakhstan's plans to transform the agro-industrial complex into a high-tech sector, Kazinform News Agency reports.
“The advancement of Kazakhstan's agricultural sector is a pivotal goal, aimed at guaranteeing food security across the entire Central Asian region. Kazakhstan is the sixth largest country in the world in terms of agricultural land, with over 200 million hectares of suitable farmland,” said President Tokayev at the 36th FIC plenary meeting.
The Head of State has indicated that Kazakhstan’s agricultural products are currently exported to more than 80 countries worldwide.
“Over the past six years, there has been a twofold increase in agricultural exports, reaching a value of over $5 billion. In order to transform the agro-industrial complex into a high-tech sector, more than 100 projects, with a combined value of $5 billion, are to be implemented with the participation of foreign investors,” said the Kazakh President.
In a recent statement, the Head of State highlighted Kazakhstan's intention to increase oil production to 100 million tons per year.
Earlier it was reported that the 36th plenary meeting of the Foreign Investors' Council under the President of Kazakhstan had kicked off at the Palace of Independence in Astana.
